你身處的是賽馬會劇場。這裡亦曾經是辦公室。早期這裏的設備比較簡陋，曾經有一位來自荷蘭的藝術家Lorette van Heteren在此進行她的首次表演。當時沒有舞台燈，她便利用從木窗透進來的街燈光線作舞台燈光，並透過貫通屋頂的氣孔，直接把水從天台注入劇場進行表演，在資源匱乏下營造無比精彩的舞台效果。Lorette留在藝穗會兩年，白天幫忙清潔打掃，夜裡則化身為保安。

不過，三組木窗亦功不可沒。據說這座建築在空置時，三組木窗的上層一直保存完好，或許是因為太高，不方便偷走，因而逃過一劫。

You’re now in the Jockey Club Studio Theatre, which used to be the Fringe Club’s office. In the early days, the facilities were simple and limited. When a Dutch performer named Lorette van Heteren performed her first show here, there were no spotlights installed, so she created an impressive effect by taking advantage of the streetlights that shone through the arch windows. She also used the ventilation flue at the top of the building by pouring water directly from the Rooftop down into the theatre. Lorette was artist-in-residence by day and watchman by night.

 

We’re grateful that the three pairs of arched windows remained intact during the period when the building was vacant. Perhaps it was because they were too high up to be stolen.
