2007年藝穗會第一期裝修工程正式展開，2009年升級成一級歷史文物，令程序比預計複雜，要經政府多重批核，估計用24個月完成的工程變成6年。期間，藝穗會以半開放的形式維持營運，把所有的積蓄用光。在這個艱辛的時候，藝穗會找到了陳麗玲（已故教育家陳樹渠的太太兼香港寶聲集團前主席）的後人捐助，這個冠名贊助猶如一場及時雨，解決了當時經濟上的困難。2011年正式命名為「陳麗玲畫廊」。

We started phase I renovation project in 2007. However, with the Fringe Club premises declared grade-1 heritage in 2009, the whole renovation process became far more complicated than expected. The original plan had been for 24-month; it turned out to have taken 6 years.  

During that time, some of our venues were closed for renovation, and our income decreased. After having spent our savings, we ran out of money. We needed help. It was the descendants of Dr. Anita Chan Lai-ling who made a generous donation.  The sponsorship helped us survive this financial crisis. In 2011, the gallery was officially named after her.
